Blog post the first

So this is my first blog post. What should I write? Do you want to know about me? Do you want to know what this is all about? Well, to be honest, that is yet to be seen. But as for me, I am a teacher, scientist and steampunk who forever dreams of becoming an author. In an attempt to make this happen, I am going to have to do the unthinkable… let people read what I have written.

(Deep breaths, head down, don’t worry you won’t be able to see their faces when they read it.)

So far, my mum seems to think I’m alright but since leaving school, my only audience has been the classes I teach as I model some writing on the board. Now, don’t get me started on the grammar that primary school children have to know these days, or how every English teacher has to try and defend the government’s decision to make them learn terms that their parents still have no idea exist (I’m sure, however, I will subject you to this topic one day). For the time being, this blog will be about me trying to get into routines that will actually help my writing, writing exercises that I have come across and tried out (and would love to hear how you got on with them too) and yes, ultimately some pieces of writing that I am going to put out into the world to see what people think… be gentle. So if you’re interested in reading about writing, especially writing that inevitably has a crime, fantasy and/or a steampunk edge to it, then unbelievably you’re in the right place!

Okay, so there it was. The first time I have put words out there into the ether. Here goes nothing.
